Puppies at 27 days

Well, at nearly 4 weeks the puppies are eating machines, followed by sleeping machines. Note how Piazza keeps his food sensor out at all times.

Herding Dogs

I took Bryn out to play with she sheep for the first time this week. She showed definite interest and Cappy Pruett, the most patient herding instructor, commented that we had something to work with in Bryn. It wasn't until after Bryn worked and I was working Dodger again, that I realized just how far Dodger had come in his training. Good boy Dodger!

The Rookies at 19 days

The puppies and Sheila moved to Loveland on December 17th. Sheila will be here for approximately two weeks until the puppies are weaned. Mike Piazza, in the center and yawning, is by far the biggest pup weighing in at 2 lbs. 5 oz. He is up walking, yiping and terroizing Jackie by pulling on her ear. The personalities of all pups are starting to develop, which is exciting to see.

Dodger and Sheila Puppies Arrived 11/19/09

As many of you know, Sheila whelped her litter on November 29th, 2009. She delivered the first one without issue. Sheila ended up pushing for about 4 hours before the first of two red tri males was born on the way to the vet. The thirds was a very, very small black tri bitch that didn't survive. The final count was one black female, two red tri males, one red merle male and three blue merle males. All 7 surviving pups are doing great and will relocate to Loveland on December 17th.

So, we would like to catch you up on some of the latest things that have been happening with our dogs. First, we had a really fun ASCA nationals here in Greeley, Co. Tina ran Dodger in agility at one of the pre-trials. He qualified in all fours runs and ran in gamblers class for the first time and got his gamblers novice title. Then Dodger was shown in best of breed at the actual nationals where he was part of a field of 93 dog specials. I was very proud that he made two of the three cuts, outlasting many top dogs.

Doubloon, the lastest addition to the Iron Rose clan, was best of breed puppy at the ASCU preshow, and Lock placed 3rd in the 6-9 month dog class at nationals.
In an effort to more easily stay up to date with what is happening in our aussie world, we have decided to replace show news with a blog. We hope you enjoy and welcome your comments.
